Wedding Gowns in Film

We took a detour on our spring break trip to visit the Biltmore in Asheville, NC. The 8,000 acre estate is a magnificent property and is a destination venue for events, including weddings. On display throughout the grand rooms in the Biltmore house was the exhibit Fashionable Romance: Wedding Gowns in Film. It showcased wedding dresses and attire from major motion pictures spanning centuries of design.

More than 40 costumes from 19 classic films were on display, which included the movies Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Wallis & Edward, and many others. At Antler Hill Village & Winery – one other area of the estate – the exhibit featured heirlooms from Vanderbilt family weddings. The veil worn by Cornelia Vanderbilt Cecil and Jackie Kennedy was beautifully re-created an on display. You can see more of the images on our Facebook page.
